Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeastern Wisconsin announces the addition of services in Shawano County beginning immediately.

In 2013 an Advisory Group lead by Traci Hutchcraft began the process of bringing BBBS services to Shawano County. With the help of several area businesses and the local school system, they were able to raise start-up funding as well as a group of dedicated volunteers interested in serving as mentors.

Chris Marcks has contracted her services to BBBS of NEW to begin program delivery and further develop a formal Advisory Group securing volunteers, helping develop community awareness and developing a formal strategy with the BBBS of NEW Board of Directors.

“Starting this Big Brothers Big Sisters youth mentoring program in Shawano will supply much needed youth development opportunities. Often Shawano is overlooked because it is less populous than some counties in northeastern Wisconsin but Shawano children deserve our commitment too”, says Executive Director Todd McPeek.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeastern Wisconsin is the premier youth mentoring organization in the area serving Brown, Oconto and Door counties. The agency’s mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally-supported 1-to-1 relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. Since 1972, this donor and volunteer supported non-profit organization has expertly matched youth ages 7 and up with volunteer mentors. For more information, visit www.bbbsnew.org
