October 2018 Match of the Month Brown County | Marge Carpenter & Madylin

Each month, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Wisconsin shines a light on the relationships that we are helping build within our community. Please help us congratulate Big Sister Marge Carpenter (68) and her Little Sister Madylin (11) of Green Bay — our Brown County Match of the Month for October.
Where did you hear about Big Brothers Big Sisters?
Marge Carpenter: I heard about the site-based program through the school district.
Why did you want to become involved?
MC: I enjoy working with children. After teaching, I wanted to stay involved volunteering in a program for children.
Why did you want to have a Big Sister?
Madylin: It’s fun.
What do you do when you spend time together?
MC: We talk about weekend events and then we work on an arts and crafts project together.
What is your favorite memory with your Big?
M: Working on arts and crafts.
Is there something in particular that stands out as a memorable time with your Little?
MC: Just getting together & sharing activities.
Is there something you would like to do together in the future, and why?
M: Go to Bay Beach. It will be fun!
Is there something in the future that you would like to do together, or that you look forward to experiencing together?
MC: Just being together, sharing our time and interests.
What have you enjoyed about being a big?
MC: I enjoy having a fun relationship with Madylin
How has being matched with a Big made a difference for you?
M: It’s going good.
In what way has being matched with your little affected you and your life?
MC: This activity allows me to be involved and help guide my little.
What would you say to others about Big Brothers Big Sisters who are thinking about becoming a Big?
MC: It’s so easy to give to the community and help children.
