March 26, 2018

Youth mentoring agency serves record 602 children, exceeds standards

GREEN BAY, WI — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeastern Wisconsin (BBBSNEW) is proud to announce the Big Brothers Big Sisters Nationwide Leadership Council recognized the agency with a 2017 Quality Award. BBBSNEW is in its 46th year of serving children in the Greater Green Bay area.

“This honor validates the significant work of our staff and volunteers to grow and deepen our impact while maintaining exceptional standards of quality and a focus on serving youth,” says Executive Director Katie Hess. “We’re proud to receive this recognition for our programs and practices to support mentoring not only in our community, but in comparison to our peers across the nation.”

In 2017, BBBSNEW served a record high of 602 children across Brown, Door and Shawano counties. More than 83 percent of all community-based matches reached their one-year anniversary, a major benchmark for success that exceeds national standards by more than 10 percent.

The Quality Award recognizes BBBSNEW for the strong work ethic of agency leadership and staff in providing high-quality programming for the children the organization serves. The agency is one of 28 in the nation to receive the recognition. Only 9 percent of all 300 Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies received the award.

“Each match between a Big and Little requires attention and support, and this Quality Award shows that Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeastern Wisconsin has done an outstanding job matching children and supporting those mentoring relationships,” said Pam Iorio, president and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

BBBSNEW will be recognized as a Quality Award Winner at the 2018 Big Brothers Big Sisters National Conference in St. Louis, Mo., on June 26.
