Kayle Petitjean & Andrea

Hello, everyone! My name is Kayle, and this is my Little Sister Andrea. Andrea and I met four years ago after I expressed interest in becoming a Big Sister. I wanted to become involved because I had a Big when I was younger, and she made a significant difference in my life. I was inspired to be able to give back and do the same for someone else! Andrea got involved because she wanted someone to bond with and talk to.

Our outings together look different depending on the day. Sometimes, we like to go for walks, go out to eat, make crafts, play games, and watch movies. Andrea’s favorite experiences have been baking together and my favorite was going to Board & Brush together last summer. It was the first time we were able to go to an art class and it felt like we both could just relax and communicate in a different kind of way by helping each other paint something. Andrea is so artistic, and it was fun to see how happy she was!

I can’t help but be excited for the future together. Something that I look forward to experiencing is who Andrea will be as she gets older. When I was first matched with her, she was in elementary school and now she is about to begin her first year in high school. It’s crazy to think how long we have been matched and how we have both changed as people in the last four years. I have learned so much from Andrea, and she has given me a different perspective on life. I realized that the quality of our time doesn’t need to be perfect… the joy we experience together is plenty!

To anyone interested in becoming a Big, it is such a rewarding experience. Not only will your little learn from you, but you will also discover valuable insights from them in return!
