Tim & Mary Ascher & Marcus

Hello, everyone! We are Tim and Mary, and we have had the pleasure of being matched with Marcus since 2021. While this may be our first match in Brown County, we are no strangers to BBBS. Mary first got matched when she was 16 years old, and she had her second Little in a couple’s match with Tim about 10 years ago. Marcus makes lucky number 3!

We wanted to get matched again as a Big Couple because we find so much fulfillment in meeting a need a child has and seeing the smile on their face. We feel that we get as much out of this as our Littles do, and we are hooked on mentoring!

There are so many activities that we enjoy doing with Marcus. In the winter, we enjoy watching movies, going bowling, making supper together, and doing Christmas activities. In the summer, we always make sure to go to Bay Beach, mini golf, and the zoo. We also love hanging out at Titletown or attending BBBS sponsored activities (Rockers games, the annual picnic, and others). Marcus’ favorite activities are going out to eat, hockey games, and watching movies together. While there are too many fun memories to choose from, one of our favorites was taking Marcus to Walmart to pick a name off the giving tree at Christmas time. He is such a caring and mature boy, and it was heartwarming to watch him pick out Christmas gifts for a child his age. As for the future, Marcus is getting excited about summer and enjoying outdoor movies, water parks, and go karts.

Growing with Marcus brings opportunities and inspiration into our lives. We hope to bring different perspectives and guidance for him, and we feel so fulfilled to see him happy. To anyone considering becoming a Big, we would say that it has been one of the most rewarding opportunities to do something great for our community and impact a child’s life. Watching them grow into young adults, and being part of that growth, is priceless!
